Teen driver, his passenger accused of fleeing officers
Police arrested a Cape Coral teen and a passenger who fled when officers attempted to stop their vehicle because the passenger was not wearing his seat belt, according to reports.
Driver Justine Pierre, 15, refused to pull over for Fort Myers police cruisers with lights and sirens active, traveling from Fowler Street and Edison Avenue to 2315 Central Ave. before eventually stopping, reports state.
Pierre did not have valid driver’s license and gave police a false name, officers said.
Police reported that after officers contacted Pierre’s stepmother, they learned Pierre had been lying about his name. Upon confronting him, Pierre admitted that he had lied.
Pierre was charged with fleeing and eluding police, driving without a valid license and providing a false name to law enforcement officers.
His passenger, 24-year-old Josue Joseph, had a plastic bag and a paper bag in his left shoe containing suspected marijuana and crack cocaine, officers reported.
Presumptive tests indicated the presence of marijuana and cocaine, officers said.
Joseph was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.
The suspected drugs were packaged to be sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for testing. The results will be sent to the State Attorney’s Office, officers reported.
