Evelyn Horth

Evelyn Rita Oskierko McParland Horth, 90, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at her home in Lehigh Acres. She was born in Chicago, Ill, and moved to Lehigh Acres in 1979.

She was well known as “Whistler’s Mother.” She was a member of the Polish American Citizens Society and the American Legion Auxilliary Post 323. The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to her dear friend Ivy Purrier for her continuous patience and care along with Dorothy and Beverly, her personal caregivers, as well as Hope Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Horth.

She is survived by two sons, Edward (Lynn) McParland and Patrick (Karen) McParland and one daughter Maryann Cooney, stepdaughter Carole; nine grandchildren and sixgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Chuck Wester officiating at Anderson-Patterson Cremation & Funeral Services, 2701 Lee Blvd. Lehigh Acres.

Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to Hope Hospice.
