Sandbar, Grill at Beach to celebrate 1950s
Kicking off four years of hippin’ and hoppin’ on Fort Myers Beach, the Sandbar and Grill (7205 Estero Blvd. in the Santini Marina Plaza) is hosting its anniversary party with a throwback-1950s theme Friday, Oct. 2, from 5 p.m. to close.
“We really do appreciate what the customers have done for us and want to just put a thank you out to the beach especially with this economy and many businesses not surviving,” said Glenn Petrarca, managing partner.
During the party, the Sandbar will sport a 1950s theme, complete with live music from some of the best musicians on the beach.
“We’re just gonna decorate the heck out of this place,” Glenn said.
Throughout the night, enjoy prime rib dinner specials for $13.99 and all-you-can-eat crab legs for $16.99, as well as $2 domestic bottles, $2 domestic pints, $3 wells and wines, and $3 imported bottles.
“This is all about having a night where we’re not gonna make money,” Glenn said. “We’re just gonna back all the prices way down food and drinks and this is our way of thanking the customers for all these years. This all for them it’s just a big party.”
Glenn reminisces on some of what Sandbar and Grill diners have flourished on.
“One thing that’s been that’s been really successful is our hospitality night Wednesdays. Starting at 10 p.m., we do half off all local restaurant and hotel employees that’s half off the entire check,” he said.
The managing partner said Sal Moretti, a well-known chef on the beach, will be redoing the restaurant’s menu, fine-tuning lots of its current menu items, as well as adding some of his own.
“He’s fabulous. He makes his own sauces and other homemade recipes from scratch,” Glenn eagerly said.
Another event he’s eager about introducing is Quizzo Tuesday nights, starting Sept. 29, run by the National Trivia Association.
“It’s a DJ-hosted trivia game. You set up in teams, however many there are. There are seven rounds of trivia, and its DJ-run, so there’s live music and a bunch of stuff,” Glenn said. “We’ll do a bar tab prize for the winners a $100 bar tab. It should be a lot of fun. It’s really a big thing in the Midwest.”
Other regular events the Sandbar hosts include Saturday and Sunday college and NFL packages on the 40 flatscreens, one at each table on the bar side of the establishment.
Live music is held every Friday and Saturday evening, from 6 to 10 p.m.
Happy hour is daily, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., which include discounted prices on domestic beer and liquors. Also enjoy 25-cent wings Monday to Friday, from 2 to 5 p.m.
