Tea Party hawks need a lesson in history, math
To The Editor:
Where was the Tea Party revolution 2 1/2 years ago?
Where was this group who were increasing the deficit 2 1/2 years ago? What was happening in Congress then.
Our U.S. Congress starting when the U.S. Senate voted on a bill – Budget Reconciliation/ Deficit Reduction (S-1932) that reduced funds by $35 billion that was already allocated to fund the homeless children in foster care, the mentally ill and Katrina victims.
Why would these groups, the neediest of the needy, be selected ?
These groups were not voters. How can you vote when you are a child? Do the mentally ill vote? Do they have their own lobby? The answer is no.
The displaced Katrina victims were dispersed all over the country. They did not have an address to vote from. Now we know why these groups were targeted for the $35 billion cut.
The next question is what did Congress do with the $35 bill tax cut. They applied it to a $70 billion tax cut for the richest taxpayers in America. So they saved $35 billion and spent $70 billion and called it deficit reduction.
My match says $35 billion off and $70 on is definitely not deficit reduction.
So these Tea Party deficit hawks need a history and a math lesson. Where was their moral indignation then?
Where is this present indignation coming from?
