It’s time to kick Connie Mack out of office
To The Editor,
“Instead of continuously having the government throw more money at our economic problems, let’s look to the American people and businesses to jump start our economy,” Sephanie DuBois said. “That is where real economic growth and opportunity lie.”
Folks, if this is not the dumbest thing I have ever read in your online edition. Our congressman Connie Mack voted against extending unemployment benefits for the reason cited above in your story from his aide Stephanie DuBois. He’s a Republican and was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and moved to this area just to run for Congress, hoping his father and grandfather’s name would be enough name recognition to get him elected, and it did. God forbid that this man is representing us.
Lee County carries a more than 10 percent unemployment rate. Lehigh Acres, I have been told is close to 14 percent … and none of this counts the millions of people in the U.S. who have been laid off now for more than a year and can’t find a job.
My God, Rep. Mack, open your eyes, come back to your district and talk to the people you claim to represent. Both Democrats and Republicans are without jobs and you think businesses will jump start our economy.
How selfish can you be?
The people of Lee County and Southwest Florida need to find a person who will chase you out of office next year. The Democrats are increasing in this county and it’s time they find someone who can defeat you and stand up for the people of Southwest Florida.
You forgot what you learned in school: to represent the people who sent you to Washington. What you are doing in nothing but kissing the butts of lobbyist. We need you to do something for us. We know you dumped your wife here and married Sonny Bono’s widow who also serves in Congress. It’s time that you both stop honeymooning and get real and realize the people of this country and in particular your district are in trouble.
Have you ever had to do without food because you were unemployed? Have you ever had your electricity cut off because you didn’t have money to pay the bill? Did you ever have your home foreclosed upon because you had no money, no job and it wasn’t your fault, but the fault of the federal government and the past Bush Administration and those before?
You know nothing about how people live in your district. Just the few rich who send you campaign money. Most of us can’t, so we don’t count, do we?
Do us all a favor and resign like Sen. Mel Martinez did. At least he had a heart and came to realize that being a Republican serving this area put him in a position he could not deal with if he was to follow the Republican party. They tell you how to vote; how about listening to the people in your District. I am very disappointed in you. Why not become a leader and stand up for what is right and fair? You don’t have it in you to be a leader.
I just can’t wait for your meeting about health reform this week? I am sure it will be another scam on your part. I wonder if the people are getting tickets who need help in healthcare reform.
Or will you stack the room with Republican loyalists who don’t want to put caps on what the insurance companies make on us. I am sure you are not for the public option, which could bring about competetion in the health care industry. Again, do us a favor and resign!
