Services were held for a family of three in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday for Karen Barber, 46, and her husband, Bruce Barber, 46, and their son, Payton, 14.

Karen Barber was a former Miss Lehigh Acres and also graduated from Riverdale High School in 1981.

They were killed when their small plane crashed into the Everglades on Sept. 20.

Officials aid the crash occurred when the family was returning to South Florida from Gainesville after attending a University of Florida football game.

A daughter, Chloe, 10, was not on the plane and is the only family survivor.
