Broadway Palm announces auditions for ‘The King and I’

Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre will hold open auditions for adults and children for The King and I on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Ages 6 to 15 will audition at 10 a.m. Ages 15 and up will audition at 2 p.m. Auditions are on a first-come, first-served basis. A sign-up sheet will be available at 9 a.m. for ages 6 to 15 and at 1 p.m. for ages 15 and up. No appointments will be taken.

The following are the roles that are available:

The King and I (Playing Feb. 18 – April 10, 2010)

Casting the roles of:
1. The King’s Children – ages 6 to 15
2. Anna’s Son, Louis Leonowens – age 10 to 14
a. Must have a strong tenor singing voice
b. Will be asked to read from a script
3. The King’s Heir to the Thrown, Prince Chululongkorn – age 10 to 15
a. Strong actor
4. The King’s Wives/Guards/Supporting Roles – age 16 to adult
All ethnicities encouraged to audition. Especially seeking Asian children and adults.
Anyone interested in auditioning should bring a current headshot and resume and be prepared to sing 16 bars in the proper key that best shows off your vocal range. Please bring sheet music in the proper key, an accompanist will be provided (no audio tapes or CDs please). After the vocal audition actors/actresses may be asked to attend a dance and/or reading audition after the singing audition. Please allow yourself enough time to be seen and possibly be called back to read and/or dance.
Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is a professional theater. All roles are paid positions. Broadway Palm productions require a two-week rehearsal process as well as daytime and evening rehearsals. Anyone interested must be available for the two-week rehearsal process and all performances. The King and I performances are Tuesday through Sunday Evenings with selected matinees on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday.
