Elks hosting Octoberfest on Oct. 10
The Lehigh Acres Elks are hosting an Octoberfest dinner and dance on Saturday, Oct. 10, cocktails are at 6 p.m., dinner, 7 p.m. The menu consists of roast pork, sauerkraut, German potato salad, apple sauce and apple strudel. music will be by Le Deux.
The cost is $14 per person. For tickets, call Melba McCeave at 303-1866.
There will also be a Sunday brunch on October 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., price, $6.
General Women’s Club to hold party
The General Women’s Club of Lehigh Acres will hold its Annual Luncheon and Card Party/Game Day on Saturday, October 17, 11:30 a.m.to 3 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Whisnet Hall, 705 Leeland Heights Blvd., Lehigh Acres.

Community Council looking for seven members
Damon Shelor, president of the Community Council of Lehigh Acres has announcedan election for seven council seats. He saidseven council seats are up for election for a three-year term of service on the Community Council. Nominee Applications are now being accepted. To apply, fill out the application that can be found online and submit a minimum 20 voter petition with legal signatures and Lehigh Acres addresses. A petition form for the application signature requirement is available online at www.LehighCouncil.com or may be picked up at Panther Bank on Joel Blvd. or LA Insurance on Lee Blvd. To qualify, an applicant must have lived at least one year in Lehigh Acres and be a registered voter, Shelor said. Kreegel to be in Lehigh this month
Rep. Paige V. Kreegel, D-72, will be represented by a member of his staff at the East County Regional Library on Oct. 8 and 22 to discuss any state issues with citizens. Hours are from 9 to 10 a.m. The library is at 881 Gunnery Rd. for more information, call Cynthia Beckett at 941-575-5820.
Quinceanera celebrated by Kendall
Talia Leigh Kendall celebrated her Quinceanera ceremony recently with 100 friends and family members. The church service was held at First Assembly Ministries, witha dinner/dancing reception at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Fort Myers.
Quinceanera is a ceremony for 15- year-old Latina females to celebrate the young girl becoming a woman. The church service included performance of a song written specifically for her. She was given a crown, jewelry, and a new bible. She also changed from flat shoes into high heels, to signify that she has officially become an adult.
During the reception, Talia chose 15 of her closest friends and family membersto each light a candle to signify how they changed Talia’s life.
Talia is a freshman at Lehigh Senior High School in Lehigh Acres.
