Detectives find 60 marijuana plants worth $240,000 in Lehigh
Sheriff’s deputies discovered 60 marijuana plants at a house at 944 Ardmore St. in Lehigh Thursday resulting in the arrest of two men from Orlando. The marijuana has a street value of around $240,000.
Investigators said that on Wednesday, October 7, at around 10 a.m., they were assisting the East Lee County Water Control District when investigators said several indicators of a grow house operation were identified at the Ardmore St. address. A search warrant for the residence was obtained while detectives conducted surveillance on the home.
On Thursday, at around 10:40 a.m., investigators conducted a traffic stop for running a stop sign on two individuals seen leaving the home, identified as Rafael Borrel and Noralia Sosa. In addition to the driving violation, Borrel was cited for not wearing his seatbelt. Detectives then executed the search warrant on the house, leading to the discovery of the marijuana plants.
Detectives said both Borrel and Sosa were accused of being responsible for the grow house operation.
Rafael Antonio Borrel, 49, of 1418 Forrester Ave., Orlando, was charged with trafficking in marijuana, marijuana cultivation and possession of marijuana producing equipment.
Noralia Sosa, 49, of 1418 Forrester Ave., Orlando, was also charged with trafficking in marijuana, marijuana cultivation and possession of marijuana producing equipment.
Both individuals were taken to the Lee County Jail for booking.
Investigators said members of the Bonita Narcotics Section, Pharmaceutical Investigative Law Enforcement Strategy (PILS) Section and Bravo District deputies assisted with the operation.
