Students honored for ‘doing the right thing’
Humanitarian concern, honesty, integrity, positive decision making and heroism were recognized during the Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s first “Do The Right Thing” Awards Ceremony of the school year.
Do The Right Thing ceremonies were held Thursday September 17, in the board room of the School Board of Lee County, Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.
Each month throughout the 2009-2010 school year, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office honors the positive actions of Lee County community’s students through the “Do The Right Thing” program. John McGraw is the coordinator of the program and also the emcee of the ceremony.
Students honored included:
– Jose Esau Cruz of Fort Myers, a 6th grade student at Lexington Middle School.
– Clarence Jean of Lehigh Acres, a 4th grade student at Sunshine Elementary School.
– Jacob Thomas Howard of Fort Myer, a 6th grade student at James Stephens International Academy.
– Courtney Kaufman of Fort Myers, an 8th grade student at Cypress Lake Middle School.
– Michael Bennard of Fort Myers, an 11th grade student at Cypress Lake High School.
– Amber Nowling of Fort Myers, an 11th grade student at Cypress Lake High School.
– Doniyor Kamalov of Fort Myers, an 11th grade student at Cypress Lake High School.
– Chad Redenius of Fort Myers Beach, an 11th grade student at Cypress Lake High School.
– Adam Blair of Fort Myers, an 11th grade student at Cypress Lake High School.
– Beatrice Madrigal of Lehigh Acres, a 12th grade Student at East Lee County High School.
– Jonathan Burkhead of Lehigh Acres, a 7th grade student at Alva Middle School.
– Astrid Arriaga of Bonita Springs, a 7th grade student at Bonita Springs Middle School.
