FGCU men win golf invitational

The FGCU men’s golf team captured first place in their own Eagle Invitational Tournament played Tuesday at the West Bay Beach & Golf Club in Estero, led by senior Michael Hart atop the leaderboard with a three-round total of 211 (69-70-72).

The Eagles fielded two teams to compete against Florida Atlantic, Bethune-Cookman, and Stetson in the two-day event.

The FGCU B team was the top scoring team with a three-round score of 876 (289-290-297). FGCU A placed second with 881 (295-292-294).

As individual champion, Hart outscored 27 other golfers. Eagles juniors Daniel Mazziotta (75-73-69) of Fort Myers and Zach Robinson (72-74-71) of Pensacola tied for fourth overall with scores of 217 .

The FGCU men tee it up again on Sunday in Savannah, Ga., playing in the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate tournament.
