The surging Ida Baker Bulldogs coasted to another boys’ golf victory Thursday. For the second day in a row, they broke the magical number of 160 strokes over a nine-hole match.

Dylan Fine turned in a round to match his last name, a two-over-par 38 at Magnolia Landing Country Club to claim medalist honors and lead Baker to a decisive 158-192 win over North Fort Myers and shorthanded Island Coast.

Michael Faulkner was one stroke behind his medalist teammate with 39 with Bryr Austen pitching in with 40 and Cody Byers a 41.

All four Bulldogs scored lower than North High’s Zach Holten at 44. Stefan Williams came through with a 47, Joe Caiazza with 50 and Jared Adkins 51.

Jordan Carr shot 47 for Island Coast, which did not earn a team score with just two players.

The Bulldogs (14-4) are poised to contend for the District 2A-15 Tournament title Monday at Arrowhead Golf Club in Naples..

Swimming

At Cape High: Ida Baker swept both ends of a dual meet with North Fort Myers Thursday.

Baker’s boys took care of business 105-65 by winning seven of the 12 events. The girls’ team won a close duel 89-76, winning five of the 11 events.

The Bulldogs swimmers dip in the pool again Wednesday for the LCAC Championship meet at DeLeon Pool.
