Woman killed in crash early Sunday at Sunshine Blvd., West 12th St. intersection
The Florida Highway patrol said a woman died in a crash early Sunday morning after her vehicle hit a utility pole. FHP Trooper S. Ellis said a 2002 four-door Chevrolet was traveling south on Sunshine Blvd., approaching the intersection of West 12th St.
The vehicle was entering a curve to the right in the road when the driver under steered as she was entering the curve and drifted across the double yellow center line into the northbound lane, Ellis said in a report.
He said the driver then over corrected to the right causing the car to rotate clockwise and travel southwest onto the west shoulder, causing the left side of the car to collide with a wooden utility pole on the west shoulder.
The woman was the only occupant of the vehicle involved in the fatal crash, Ellis said.
Police were unable to give the name of the woman pending identification and notification to family members. The woman died at the scene of the accident. She was also not wearing a seatbelt, Ellis said.
