For woman who doesn’t want Lehigh address
To The Editor:
I don’t understand people like the lady who was written about who said she didn’t want a Lehigh address since she was living in a development just on the other side of the boundary between Lehigh and Fort Myers on Lee Blvd.
From what the story said, the Lehigh Post office was delivering the mail and that gave her a Lehigh address, instead of a Fort Myers address. She told the writer of the article that she didn’t like the Lehigh address because of all the problems in Lehigh such as crime, etc.
Well, I have something to say to her. If you don’t like Lehigh, why did you buy a house on the edge of Lehigh.
If you check the police logs on the sheriff’s website online, you will find out that there is more crime in Fort Myers and Cape Coral than in Lehigh.
And besides that, I can take her to homes in Lehigh worth two and three times what she paid for her house.
I don’t think she has ever taken a ride around Lehigh. Even out in the areas where there are fewer homes, those houses are worth more than those in the development she lives in.
And doesn’t she understand that because of the financial crash that every new home in Lee County is worth half as much as it was two and three years ago. Talk to the property appraiser. Hey, lady welcome to the real world.
Many of us like Lehigh Acres and we chose to live here because it was unlike Cape Coral where everyone thinks they are better than their neighbors. Not all of us chose Lehigh for the so-called “affordable housing thing,” which is not necessarily true. And several months ago we all found out that Cape Coral and Fort Myers were among the cities in the nation with the highest number of foreclosed homes.
Lehigh has much to offer and its natural state in most areas is beautiful.
I would tell the lady who probably never turns her car east on Lee Blvd. to see Lehigh to take a chance and visit the town she nearly lives in. But if she is too good for that, then move somewhere else.
I can take her to developments in Lehigh where homes are worth much more than hers, places like Mirror Lakes, Westminster, and TownLakes, to name a few. These people are not ashamed of the Lehigh name.
We can’t help it if her house is under water. Get used to it lady. I thought her complaint was the dumbest thing I had ever heard coming from a homeowner – not liking the Lehigh address.
