The 12th annual Fall Kids’ Festival, presented by the Harney Point Kiwanis Club and the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department, will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Jaycee Park.
Special events coordinator Todd King said the free, health and safety fair is another way for the parks and recreation department to offer an inexpensive, fun event for families to enjoy.
The festival began in 1998 through the Harney Point Kiwanis and the city as a way to provide families and children with an outlet of valuable information and resources to enhance their quality of life.
The festival will feature local live entertainment, interactive experiences, information, crafts, food vendors, face painting, balloon creatures, pony rides, a giant inflatable slide, motorcycles, music and dance puppetry for children up to 18 years old.
King said the festival will provide games, fun and activities for children. The Cape Coral police and fire departments will have cars and trucks present for attendees to see.
He added that a costume contest will be held, along with a fingerprinting service for children provided by the CCPD.
The event attracted more than 8,000 last year. Those who attend are encouraged to dress accordingly due to the event operating in rain or shine.
Once the sun goes down, the free Movie in the Park will be “Monsters vs. Aliens.” Families can bring a picnic and “enjoy some time in the park while enjoying a great movie,” King said.
“It’s another opportunity for families to get together under the stars to enjoy the movie and enjoy the Kids’ Fest,” he said.
Donations of canned food for the Cape Coral Caring Center is greatly appreciated for those who attend.
