Oktoberfest’s final weekend still offers fun
The 24th annual Cape Coral Oktoberfest will wrap up this weekend with entertainment, food, drinks and dancing for the entire family.
The entertainment portion of Oktoberfest will feature seven bands rotating from the big tent to the Bavarian Gardens.
The German-American Social Club of Cape Coral’s 22-piece brass band, called Hafenkapelle, Peter and Edith, Manni Daum and son Jason, Eddie Korosa Jr., Alpen Diamanten and Alpine Express will perform multiple times throughout today and Sunday.
Zimmererkapelle Biberach, a band directly from Germany, will also perform at various times during both days.
Oktoberfest chairman Paul Mills said music will constantly be going in the big tent and the Bavarian Gardens.
There will also be a large dance floor, located between the stages in the big tent, for those who wish to dance.
Oktoberfest will have an abundance of German foods, including traditional favorites like sauerbraten and schnitzel, along with German beer.
Full-course meals will be served in the air-conditioned clubhouse in the von Steuben Hall, where guests will be greeted and served by waitresses at decorated tables.
Two kitchens located in the Bavarian Gardens will serve half-roasted chicken and potato pancakes with applesauce.
Oktoberfest will also have vendors serving pizza, Greek food and ice cream.
The celebration offers rides and games for all ages. The Oktoberfest Kiddie Train will make its way around the club’s grounds for children who wish to take a ride.
Those who wish to test their strength can swing a mallet and try to ring a bell in one game. A smaller version is available for children.
Handmade crafts from the German-American Social Club and souvenir items will be available for purchase.
Oktoberfest will be open from noon-midnight today and noon-9 p.m. Sunday.
A church service will be offered at 11 a.m. Sunday in the large tent.
Tickets for Oktoberfest can be purchased at the gate for $6.
The German-American Social Club is located at 2101 S.W. Pine Island Road.
