BROWDER TO BE SPEAKER AT LEAGUE’S MEETING
Dr. James Browder, superintendent of Lee County Schools, will be guest speaker at the November meeting of the Lee County League of Women voters. He will discuss and take questions on subjects of concern to voters: budget cuts, alternative learning centers, standards for student achievement and resources for
children at risk.
The date is Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Royal Palm Yacht Club, 2360 first St. in Fort Myers

LUNCHEON, CARD PARTY SET AT CHURCH NOV. 11
A luncheon and card party is set for Wednesday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, at the First Community Congregational United Church of Christ Church at 200 Leeland heights Blvd from noon to 3 p.m.
The cost is $6. Single players are welcome and board games are available. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets available at the door or call 369-2558, said Betty J. Stickle, a spokeswoman with the luncheon and card party.
CAR SHOW SET AT MAJESTIC GOLF CLUB ON NOV. 8
A car show is set for Nov. 8 at the Majestic Golf Club at 350 S. Homestead Rd. in Lehigh Acres.
Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon. Judging starts at 11 a.m. and awards will be presented in various categories at 3 p.m.
