Road construction, clinic site access and the need to consolidate clinics led to the decision to cancel two H1N1 clinics previously scheduled at Cape Coral High School for Monday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 10, at East Lee County High School.
“In reviewing the upcoming clinic schedules we determined the combination of heavy road construction surrounding Cape Coral High School coupled with the lengthy walking distance from the parking area to the clinic site makes access difficult for disabled persons and parents with strollers. Also, the East Lee County High School clinic was cancelled in an effort to consolidate clinic locations in LeHigh,” said Judith A. Hartner, M.D., M.P.H., M.P.A., director of the Lee County Health Department, is a prepared statement.
For residents in the Cape Coral area there are other upcoming clinics they might want to attend. Some future Cape Coral clinics are as follows: Thursday, Nov. 5, at Mariner High School and Thursday, Nov. 12, at Island Coast High School.
Some future LeHigh clinics are as follows: Monday, Nov. 9, and Monday, Nov. 16, LeHigh Senior High School.

Things to know before you come to a clinic:

No need to come early, wait times are just a few minutes for those that come a bit later.
No medical documentation is required
No residency documentation is required

EVERYONE should eventually be vaccinated, but those in high risk categories will be given the first supplies of the vaccine. They include:

Pregnant women
Children and young adults age 6 months through 24 years
People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months old
Health care workers and emergency medical services personnel
People age 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza

Always remember before departing for any clinic site, to verify the date and time as the schedule is subject to change based on availability of vaccine. To verify clinic information, log onto the Lee County Health Department website at www.LeeCHD.com

Volunteers are still welcome for all clinic sites. To sign up to be a volunteer, call United Way 211 by dialing 2-1-1, download an application from www.LeeEOC.com (located under the Breaking News section) or pick one up at your local library. The application can be submitted directly online, or you can fax or mail it (information located on the application form).
