Makowski leaves former Panther Community Bank

By Staff | Nov 8, 2009

Karen R. Makowski has left First National Bank of the Gulf Coast to pursue other career opportunities, it was announced Friday. Makowski formerly served as the president and CEO of Panther Community Bank, which merged with First National Bank of the Gulf Coast on October 23, 2009.

Makowski was a founding director of Panther, leading the organization through the planning and regulatory approval process. The bank opened on December 3, 2007. She also has been active in the community, serving as vice chairwoman of the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Lehigh Community Council, a member of the Lehigh Acres Rotary Club, and vice chairwoman of the fund drive for a new Hope Hospice House under construction in Lehigh Acres.

“Under Makowski’s leadership, Panther became a successful bank serving the needs of the local community and as an advocate for Lehigh Acres,” said Gary L. Tice, chairman and CEO of First National Bank of the Gulf Coast. “The community responded by growing the bank to $60 million, with high-quality assets. We congratulate Makowski for her many contributions and wish her well in her future career pursuits.”

Headquartered in Naples, First National Bank of the Gulf Coast has banking offices located 3560 Kraft Road, just off Pine Ridge Road in North Naples, and 811 Anchor Rode Drive in The Moorings. The previous main office of Panther Community Bank at 50 Joel Boulevard in Lehigh Acres now operates as a full-service banking center.
