Ursitti named ‘Respiratory Therapist of the Year’
Lehigh Regional Medical Center has named its “Respiratory Therapist Of The Year” for 2009, according to Chris Rakunas, the chief operating officer at LRMC.
During the celebration, Rakunas and Thomas Campo, director of cardiopulmonary services, presented Ursitti with Lehigh Regional’s Second Annual “Therapist Of The Year Award.”
Ursitti has been with the hospital for more than 12 years.
“We’re very pleased to give this recognition to John. During the years, he has shown an unshakable commitment to the community and his profession through dedication and hard work,” said Jos F. Morillo, LRMC’s chief executive officer.
Thomas Campo said that in 1982, the American Association for Respiratory Therapy (later changed to American Association for Respiratory Care)
officially designated the last week in October as Respiratory Care Week to draw national attention to the importance of lung health. The announcement
came from the Oval Office when then-president Ronald Reagan supported the efforts of the organization.
