Thompson to sign his new book Nov. 20, 25
Lehigh author Doug Thompson will hold a book signing on Friday, Nov. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the BB&T Bank on Homestead Rd. (formerly Colonial Bank) and again on Nov. 25 at Haney’s Cafe at the Microtel Inn & Suites on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Thompson’s newest book is titled On The Zephyr. A story about the book appeared in The Citizen on Nov. 4 and is online at Lehighacrescitizen.com. This is Thompson’s third murder mystery. He and his wife, Ada, live in Lehigh. Coffee and cookies will be available for those who wish to buy the book and to get his signature.
Elks holding ‘After Thanksgiving’ dinner, dance
The Lehigh Elks are holding an “After Thanksgiving Dinner and Dace,” on Saturday, Nov. 28 with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.
The menu consists of roast beef and vegetables. Music will be provided by Le Duex. The cost is $14 per person.
Kathryn Pierson, a spokeswoman with the Elks suggests you put your turkey leftover away and come for a roast beef dinner and enjoy the evening. For tickets, she said to call Melba McCleave at 303-1866.
Learn ways to quit smoking
Quit Smoking Now is a free six-session community health promotion program to will help people to quit smoking and quit spitting chewing tobacco, said Cherie Hein, a spokeswoman with the Everglades Area Health Education Center.
There will be free nicotine replacement therapy, gum, patches and lozenges for those that are eligible.
It will be held at various location in Lee County. for dates, information and to register, call 877-819-2357. This program is being sponsored by the Everglades Area Health Education Center.
Session for adoptive parents planned Nov. 21
