SW Florida Symphony celebrates romance with season opener
Whether it’s your first date or your 50th, let the Southwest Florida Symphony serenade you with its 2009-2010 Pops Series Opener “Love’s Greatest Hits” on December 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. in the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.
Conducted by the talented Michael Hall, this concert will be the perfect complement to a well-deserved evening out, says Mary Larkin, a spokeswoman with the Symphony. Joining Maestro Hall will be Zachary Prince from Broadway’s “Jersey Boys” and the Southwest Florida Symphony Youth Chorus.
Make sure you bring your sweetheart to experience a concert filled with familiar favorites and new classics that you will fall in love with, she said.
“Highlights from our program include Memory from Cats, If I Loved You from Carousel, and Can You Feel the Love Tonight? from The Lion King. Special guest soloist Zachary Prince, last seen in Jersey Boys on Broadway, will sing his way into your heart. The concert includes the Youth Chorus and many more outstanding guest soloists, Larkin said.
Prince, has performed as a soloist with the Cincinnati Pops, the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He holds a BFA in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University and currently lives in New York City.
The Pops Season will continue with A Very Merry Pops on December 18 and 19, The Great Gershwins on January 8 and 9, Hot Rhythms and Sweet Swing on February 5 and 6 and Star Spangled Pops, a tribute concert in memory of the late Erich Kunzel, on March 12 and 13.
