Lehigh Kiwanis Club is now on the Internet
The Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club has entered the 21st century with a bang and is proud to announce their new addition to the Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club family, says Damon Shelor, president.
Their new website at www.lehighacreskiwanis.info, brings in not only the history of this 1968 chartered club in Lehigh but the future projects of its volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time, Shelor said.
The Kiwanis Club website has earned two child safe ratings.
First is The Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA), an international, non-profit organization of Internet leaders working to develop a safer Internet. ICRA has long believed that self-regulation leads to the best balance between the free flow of digital content and protecting children from potentially harmful material, Shelor said.
And second is the Safe Surf Rating Standard which is a voluntary rating system designed to protect children, as well as the First Amendment rights of their parents.
It was developed with input from thousands of parents and Internet citizens, worldwide.
The Lehigh Acres Family of the Kiwanis Club: Mirror Lakes Elementary, K-Kids; Veterans Academy of the Arts, Builders Club; East Lee County High School, Key Club all donated 150 turkeys and the school’s staff and other community partners provided all the trimmings to help feed in needy families this past Thanksgiving.
Shelor said the Lehigh Acres Family of the Kiwanis Club would like to thank the farmers and people who took their personal time and gifts to help out during a time of great economic uncertainty to donate fresh produce and needed man power for this project.
“The Lehigh Acres Family of the Kiwanis Club would like to thank Cheryl Williams, vice president of BB&T Bank on Homestead Rd. for raising the needed extra funds to complete this project, Shelor said.
