MLB charity golf tournament dates announced

By Staff | Dec 8, 2009

The dates for two Major League Baseball signature events benefiting lifesaving hospital care for the local community were announced Tuesday.
The 17th annual Boston Red Sox Children’s Hospital Celebrity Golf Classic will take place on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, with an evening-prior Boston Red Sox “Tee Party” on Thursday, Feb. 25. Proceeds benefit the specialized care and treatment within The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Boston Red Sox events will take place at The Forest Country Club, 6100 Club Blvd. in Fort Myers, Florida.
The 12th annual Minnesota Twins Celebrity Classic golf event is set for Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 with proceeds to benefit programs and treatments at Lee Memorial Health System’s comprehensive Regional Cancer Center in Fort Myers. The Minnesota Twins Celebrity Classic tees-off at Fiddlesticks Country Club, 15391 Cannongate Drive in Fort Myers, Florida.
“We invite all members of the Southwest Florida community to join us for one, or both, of these fantastic events,” said LMHS Foundation Director of Operations Ken Shoriak in a prepared statement released Tuesday. “We are honored to have the continued support and partnership of two of the greatest Major League Baseball franchises in the country. It is only through the continued philanthropic support of our many partners and donors that we can continue to deliver excellence in medical care to members of the Southwest Florida community.”
Corporate sponsorships and foursomes are now available for both tournaments. Call the LMHS Foundation office at 239-985-3550 or email BostonGolf@LeeMemorial.org or TwinsGolf@LeeMemorial.org for more information.
