A Lehigh Acres man died in a crash on Wednesday Dec. 9 shortly after 8 a.m., according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the traffic accident located at the intersection of Edison Avenue and W. 6th Street, Lehigh Acres. When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a serious two-car crash with injuries.

Deputies learned a green Isuzu traveling on Edison Avenue ran a stop sign. As the vehicle ran the stop sign, it pulled in front of a silver Acura traveling through the intersection on W. 6th Street.

The Acura collided with the Isuzu causing both vehicles to spin out of control, according to the Sheriff’s report.

During the crash, an occupant of the Isuzu, identified as Roiler Carillo-Arufe, 18, was ejected from the back seat of the vehicle. The preliminary investigation reveals he was not wearing his seat belt, investigators said. He was airlifted to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead around 1:30 p.m.

The other two occupants of the Isuzu have been identified as Bercy Swanagan and Yani Sleidis-Garcia. Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts, according to investigators who said they were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

Neither occupant of the Acura was injured. The driver has been identified as Kathryn Snyder and her young son, Nicholas Snyder.

All three occupants of the Isuzu have a listed address of 18141 Star Jasmine Court, Lehigh Acres. The Snyders’ address is listed as 3130 Styles Road, Alva.
