The Ida Baker Bulldogs bolted from the opening tipoff to a comfortable lead and mangled Estero 77-44 in a District 4A-11 matchup Friday night at Baker.

“This was our best offensive game of the year,” said Bulldogs coach Greg Coleman. “We came out of the gate on fire and played extra fast. Our last three games were on the road, so it was nice to be back at home in front of our fans.”

Rob Serrano and Al Serrano led the way with 16 points and 15 points, respectively, while Christian Davis chipped in with 14 points to go with eight rebounds. The Serrano brothers also handed out eight assists apiece.

The Bulldogs (5-2, 4-1 district) host Island Coast on Thursday.

Nate Howard led the Vikings with 15 points, backed by 11 points from Brian Reeves and 10 apiece from Bobby Thomas and Abner Sandoval.

After opening a 23-7 first-quarter lead, the Vikings coasted to a 42-15 halftime margin en route to the lopsided win.

Ahmed Abu-Khadier had 12 points for Gateway.

The Vikings (4-3) host Pembroke Pines Flanagan at 4:30 p.m. next Friday.
