The musical ‘A Christmas Carol’ is at Broadway Palm
Charles Dickens’ timeless story, A Christmas Carol, plans from now through Dec. 26 at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre. The musical version of A Christmas Carol was originally presented by Radio City Entertainment at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden for 10 years.
The New York Times call the musical “a tonic for adults, and for children a transfixing journey.
The music is by Alan Menken, who wrote the music for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.
The musical takes place in Victorian London in 1843. It’s the classic tale of the crotchety, cantankerous miser named Ebenezer Scrooge. He notoriously welcomes each Christmas season with his very familiar “Bah Humbug” and makes it clear he has no intention of enjoying the holiday.
On the night before Christmas, Scrooge is visited by three spirits; the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. They pay a visit to Scrooge to show him cheerful memories from his past, cruel realities from his present and the very likely future, should Scrooge continue his bad tempered ways.
Scrooge learns important lessons about his impact on the lives of others, especially Bob Cratchit and his crippled son, Tiny Tim, who are poor in material things, but rich in their love
This fresh production maintains the heart and soul audiences have grown to love for many decades.
A Christmas Carol is directed by Brian Enzman, artistic producer for Broadway Palm. Choreography is provided by Kerry Lambert.
The role of Ebenezer Scrooge is played by James France, who is making his debut. The character of Tiny Tim will be performed by two young local actors, Spencer Saso and Cody Vagle.
