Drivers’ checkpoint set by Sheriff’s Office

By Staff | Dec 14, 2009

A drivers’ license checkpoint is scheduled for this week by members of the Lee County’s Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit at an undisclosed location.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is committed to safety on our streets and highways. The goal of the initiative is to educate citizens while enforcing the law, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office said.

Driver’s license checkpoints help identify and apprehend drivers who do not possess a valid license or driving while the privilege has been revoked or suspended. Checkpoints will also aide in detecting individuals who have not properly registered or insured their vehicle, a spokesman with the Sheriff’s Office said.
