Cape Fire responds to simultaneous fire incidents
Cape Coral Fire units responded to separate fire incidents at a residential structure and Cape Coral High School Friday afternoon.
At 1:46 p.m., dispatchers received a call about a garage on fire in the 1400 block of Southeast 23rd Terrace. At 1:58, units responded to a fire alarm call from Cape Coral High School where a haze was reported on the second floor.
Because several fire rescue units are on scheduled “brown outs,” the second call required Cape Fire to notify fire departments in North Fort Myers, Fort Myers and Iona-McGregor to be available for mutual aid.
The residential structure fire was extinguished at 1:55 p.m., while the fire issue at Cape Coral High School was resolved by 2:04 p.m.
No injuries were reported at either location.
Mutual aid was canceled, and Cape Coral now has adequate units available for emergency response, officials said.
