Victim struck by Seminole train identified
The man struck by a Seminole Railway train on December 14, has been positively identified as Tomas Villa Alcauter, a transient with a date of birth of 2-19-1950.
The train was headed back to Fort Myers and was north of Matt Road in North Fort Myers when the engineer says he saw a man lying on his back between the rails, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The engineer was unable to stop the train before striking the man.
The autopsy shows Alcauter was alive when he was struck by the train. The official ruling is pending, but at this time the death appears to be accidental.
