To The Editor:

I thank Mike Bonacolta for his letter and interest in the East County Water Control District. I know Mr. Bonacolta and I think he is one of the brightest young minds we have in Lehigh Acres today.

He is an outstanding citizen who holds different views than I have on a host of issues, but we agree in the fact that transparency in government is key.

At the December 14 meeting of the Board of Commissioners the item that Mr. Bonacolta had listed was tabled without discussion. I would have also voted against the item as there was a possible conflict of interest as he stated.

I would encourage Mr. Bonacolta and others within the community to watch their government close because without proper oversight, government runs wild.
