Christmas comes early for Key West Lotto winner
TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Lottery announced today that FLORIDA LOTTO winner Mary Ambroise, 39, of Key West, claimed the December 19, $13 million FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot.
Ambroise chose the one-time, lump-sum payment for her winnings in the amount of $7,830,450.33. The winning FLORIDA LOTTO Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Tom Thumb, located at 5515 Overseas Highway in Marathon. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $35,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
The winning FLORIDA LOTTO numbers were 06-08-11-16-17-48 and the XTRA multiplier was 3.
Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $8.9 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.
Ambroise is the 4th FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot winner to purchase a winning ticket in Monroe County. To date, there have more than 930 FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot winners statewide since 1988.
The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing will be held on Saturday, December 26, at 11:15 p.m. with a $3 million jackpot.
