Another chilly night expected Saturday; freeze warning issued

Lehigh Acres residents may want to put on another blanket tonight as temperatures are expected to drop into the lower 30s and higher 20s in some areas. A freeze warning is in place from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, weather officials say.

Today’s highs may reach near 60, but expect temperatures tonight to fall back into the 30s. At noonLehigh Acres reported a temperature of 53 degree. Weather officials say that if Saturday’s high doesn’t reach 62, it will be the coldest Jan. 2 high temperature since 1931.

According to weather reports, tonight’s low temperatures east of I-75 could be near freezing or below.

While eastern communities of Lee County will be the coldest Saturday night into Sunday morning, temperatures along the coast won’t be as cold, but they will go down to the upper 30s to 40 degrees.

You may want to keep a winter jacket ready for the rest of the week with highs expected to be in the upper 50s to low 60 and nighttime lows in the 30s.

It will get warmer, weather official say, but don’t expect it until this coming Thursday and Friday when highs are expected to he in the mid 60s and lows in the 40s. Another cold front is expected to move across Southwest Florida next weekend and it may bring a few showers with it, according to weather forecasters.
