Health Fair set Jan. 8 in Cape Coral

Mark your calendars now for the Health Fair to be held at The Wellness Center of Cape Coral, 609 SE 13th Court, on Jan. 8 from 8 a.m. until noon.

The Health Fair is free and open to the public and will provide education on common chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, balance disorders, COPD, depression, dementia, and breast cancer.

Also at the health fair, health officials be highlighting services available to help you or a loved one manage these illnesses, to allow you to talk to physicians and other health care providers; and to visit the Wellness Center to learn about the fitness programs available as well as personal training and aquatic programs.

Steak Fry planned by Legion on Jan. 16

The American Legion Post 323 in Lehigh will hold a Steak Fry on Jan. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. and a sock hop from 7 p.m. until it ends. Cost of the steak fry is $11 per serving. The Legion is at 1124 Ashler Ave., just behind the Burger King restaurant.

Bingo, card Party set Jan. 20 at St. Raphael Church

St. Raphael Altar and Rosary Society has scheduled at Bingo and Card Party for Wednesday, Jan. 20 from noon to 3 p.m. with a donation of $6. It will be in the Parish Hall of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on Lee Blvd., across from the Walmart.

A light lunch, tea or coffee will be served.

Bring your own playing cards or games and make up your tables. There will be prizes and raffles. Tickets available from members of chairperson Jean Castaldi. Call 239-209.8945.

Rally date to bring Cubs to Collier is changed

The rally in support of bringing the Cubs Spring Training facility to Collier County, tentatively scheduled for January 16 in Cambier Park has been re-scheduled as to not conflict with the 25th Annual

Cubs Convention being held in Chicago the same weekend.

Officials of Project Home Run! are working with the Cubs to set a new date that is more conducive

for fans in Southwest Florida as well from the Midwest states to attend. The new date will be announced in mid-January.

The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting event on behalf of First National Bank of the Gulf Coast. The event was held on Tuesday, December 22 at the bank’s headquarters, located at 3560 Kraft Road in Naples. A branch is located in Lehigh Acres.
