Senior Citizens Center January Calendar of Events

Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Bingo with large jackpots, nonmembers are welcome to attend.

The Wednesday Afternoon Dances are from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Live nine-piece band on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

Monday to Friday from 9 to 11 a.m., free blood pressure checks for members.

Every Friday between 1:30 and 4 p.m., Senior Center Tea Dance.

January 7 and 21 from 7 to 9 p.m., dance with “Le Deux,” $3 for members, $4 for nonmembers.

January 7 at 9 a.m. Diabetic Support Group Breakfast sponsored by LRMC.

January 7 at 1 p.m., memorial service, please sign up a week in advance.

January 8 at from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., board elections, must be current 2010 member to vote.

January 8 at 2 p.m., open board meeting, all members are invited to attend.

January 11 at 11:30 a.m., Learn @ Lunch, Mederi Home Health “Pneumonia” Lunch provided by Mederi Home Health. Sign up a week in advance, and you must be a member.

January 11 from 7 to 9 p.m., Karaoke night, $2 donation.

January 13 at 11:30 a.m., Hot Dog Day. Enjoy a hotdog and chips plus soda. Sign up week in advance – must be a member.

January 14 at 9 a.m., Doctor’s Breakfast featuring Dr. Frank Avey of Lehigh, sponsored by Lehigh Regional Medical Center.

January 14 at 1 p.m., Movie Day playing “Liar, Liar” with Jim Carey. Sign up for popcorn, must be member.

January 18 at 9:30 a.m., Martin Luther King Breakfast. Sign up a week in advance, must be member.

Jan 18 at 11:30 am Dr. Stephen Schoering “Orthopedics” (Sign up a week in advance-Must be member)

January 21 at 12:30 p.m., Birthday Lunch for January Birthdays. Free meal for members, must sign up a week in advance.

January 25 at 11:30 a.m., Learn @Lunch, Home Health topic, constipation. Lunch is provided by Fountain Crest.

January 25, 26 at noon to 3 p.m. AARP Driver’s Safety Class, must call AARP to sign up.

January 26 at 10:30 a.m., Meet ‘n Eat carpool to David Tool’s Roadhouse Restaurant. Sign up a week in advance.

January 28 at 9 a.m. Doctor’sBreakfast,Dr. Chad Simmons, topic, Advances in Podiatry

care. Breakfast sponsored by LRMC.

January 28 at 12:30 p.m., Senior Center Dinner Theatre “Down Memory Lane.” Lunch and plays provided by Senior Center Entertainment Group. Sign up a week in advance.

In addition, there are classes in different topics and activities, including line dancing, bocce, creative writing, discussion groups, all types of card games, Swedish weaving, tatting, needlework – many types, punchneedle, woodcarving, stain glass, simulated bowling, sewing for beginners or advanced, pine needle baskets, art (all mediums), weight loss group, walking, make a Teddy Bear class, craft class, exercise classes, quilting, ping pong, beginner and intermediate computer classes, entertainment group puts on skits and singing group.

There is also the Golden Shell Boutique open to the public where clothes and a multitude of other items are offered for sale at a good price.
