Drugs stolen from a veterinarian’s office in Alva could prove deadly if consumed by humans, the officials said Tuesday.

The drugs were reported stolen at approximately 6 a.m. Jan. 5 when Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported burglary at the office of Dr. VanRoekel, 18321 N. Olga Drive.

Among the items taken were some very powerful drugs that were not meant to be used on humans, officials said. The drugs taken include a variety of steroids, euthanasia drugs, and narcotics.

According to the Lee County Health Department these drugs were not meant for humans and could be deadly. The Health Department has alerted the local hospital Emergency Rooms in the event these drugs are misused.

These drugs need to be recovered to ensure they are not used inappropriately. Anyone who has any information regarding this burglary and theft is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 239-477-1000.
