Lehigh woman charged with murder of husband

A Lehigh Acres woman who dropped off a man with a stab wound Thursday night at Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh has been charged with second degree murder.
The victim has been identified as Arthur Lee James, 44, husband of the suspect, Leatha McSwain James. His address is listed as 703 Cortez Avenue, Lehigh Acres. Investigators learned the stabbing occurred when a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect turned physical, said Larry King, a spokesman with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s officials said that on Thursday night, they received a call from LRMC at 10:20 p.m., reporting the incident of a man being left at the hospital with a stab wound to his back. The man died at the hospital.
Officials said the woman left the hospital in a green Suburban.
According to the Sheriff’s report, while deputies were responding to the hospital, they saw a green Chevy Suburban at the Marathon gas station at Hazelwood Avenue and Lee Boulevard in Lehigh. Deputies were able to contact Leatha McSwain James, 40, who confirmed she had dropped the man off at the hospital, authorities said. Her address is also 703 Cortez Ave., Lehigh, according to jail records.
Homicide detectives are conducting the investigation.
