LRMC presents annual awards
Lehigh Regional Medical Center has presented 2009 awards to its director, nurse, and employee of the year to William “Oscar” Gamble, Pauline Hufault and Cynthia Johnson.
Oscar Gamble, a physical therapist, began working as an athletic trainer in 1984 for the U.S. military. There, he received the Navy Achievement Medal and
Naval Accommodation. He then went to Physical Therapy School at Florida International University, where he graduated magna cum laude with the Student of the Year Award in 1994.
Gamble has worked as a physical therapist in various settings including outpatient, acute care, wound and burn care, and nursing homes. He has worked
at Lehigh Regional Medical Center for 12 years, working as a staff physcal therapist, clinical manager and most recently, as director of rehab and wound
care.
Under his supervision, the Wound Care and Rehab Department has grown from offering just acute care and outpatient services to providing more specialized care through wound care, IV Therapy, hyperbarics, sports and rehabilitation and athletic training at Lehigh High School.
He oversees the work of 18 employees and five physicians. Gamble also graduated from the first Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lehigh Class and has continued to be on the board in order to assist with further classes. In the past, he has also been an active member of the Lehigh Acres Rotary Club.
Pauline Hufault received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Quincy College, in Quincy, Mass. She moved to Lehigh Acres in 2003, and started
working at Lehigh Regional Medical Center the same year. Hufault is currently attending Edison College and Excelsior College to complete her registered
nursing studies. She is married, and is the mother of four children.
Cynthia Johnson has been working for Lehigh Regional Medical Center for almost 20 years, where she started as a team leader and then was promoted to supervisor. Under her supervision there are 18 employees who are responsible of keeping the hospital neat and in excellent sanitary conditions. Johnson has been married for 40 years and has three children.
Lehigh Regional Medical Center CEO Jos F. Morillo presented the awardees plaques and cash prizes, congratulating them and thanking them for their
loyalty and support in helping the hospital in the constant pursuit of excellence guided by whatg it calls its mission, service, compassion, commitment. The awards were made earlier this month.
