Operation targets businesses selling to minors

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said today that on Wednesday, January 20, members of Office Street Crimes Unit, in conjunction with the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (ABT), conducted an undercover operation in Lehigh Acres targeting locations that serve alcohol and tobacco.

Undercover personnel were sent into 20 different liquor stores, convenience stores and restaurants to see if the businesses were selling alcohol and tobacco to minors, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The operation resulted in the arrests of six individuals for sale of alcohol and/or tobacco to minors. The individuals are listed as follows with their place of employment:

Jasmine Cruz, (DOB 11/08/82), Murphy Gas Station, 2517 Lee Boulevard (Cigarettes)

Kim Kho Wong, (DOB 1/27/56), Jan Bo Chinese Restaurant, 25 Homestead Road (Beer)

Jennifer Marie Doane, (DOB 5/02/73), Mugs and Jugs Restaurant, 5512 8th Street West, Lee Boulevard (Beer)

Rupen R. Shah, (DOB 3/06/64), Crossroads Liquor Store, 5781 Lee Boulevard #301 (Beer and Tobacco)

Syed Helal Khalique, (DOB 6/10/57), Marathon Gas Station, 1490 Lee Boulevard (Beer and Tobacco)

Arrequin Ramirez, (DOB 2/28/74), Mexican Grocery, Lee Boulevard (Beer and Tobacco)

All parties were transported to the Lee County Jail.
