On Monday, Feb. 22 at the East County Regional Library on Gunnery Rd. in Lehigh from 6 to 7:30 p.m., there will be a forum on five single-member district voting for our county.

Lehigh Acres District 5 is often a district that does not elect the choice of the voters in this district. Instead, overflow votes from other districts will determine who is elected to represent our District 5 here in Lehigh. We need people here to represent us here.

In 2008, Lehigh Acres had a similar hearing for Lee County Charter Review and the committee recommended 9 to 6 in favor changing from “voting- at-large” to five single-member districts.

I urge your readers to please come out to this meeting to support placing this choice on the November 2, 2010 ballot this fall.
