By Staff | Mar 2, 2010

Island Coast came from behind with a five-run rally in the fourth inning to edge Cape Coral 6-5 Monday night.

Trailing 3-1 entering the fifth, the Gators started their game-winning rally when Jordan Moody reached on a Seahawk error. With two out, Randy Petito singled home the first run, followed by two walks to load the bases. Petito scored the tying run on a passed ball. Cole Ondrejka then cracked a two-run triple and later scored the game-winner on another passed ball.

Nelson Candelaria (2-1) pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and striking out five, to pick up the win. Cain Spangler (0-2) was tagged with the loss.

“I think we have showed steady improvement in the last two games over what we had at the beginning of the season,” said Seahawks coach Mark Gorton.

Brett Hobaugh led the Seahawks (0-6) with two hits and one RBI. Brandon Marshall contributed an RBI single.

The Seahawks host Riverdale Tuesday night. The Gators (3-3) start District 3A-12 play Tuesday night at Gateway Charter.
