VARSITY LAKES STUDENTS HELP WITH DIABETES RESEARCH
Varsity Lake Middle School’s AVID students have put on an event called “Catwalk for the Cure.” All the proceeds that students made last week will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
“Throughout my years of teaching I have seen students who have been affected by this terrible disease and my students wanted to make a difference. The event is like a fashion show, but with a twist,” said teacher Julie Powell.
AVID students and staff members “strutted down” a walkway in costume to different decades (50s, 60s, 70s etc.) of music.
“These kids shine in a positive light. Nothing’s better then seeing Kids helping Kids,” Powell said.
