Protesters: This group of protesters paraded in the driveway of the East County Water Control District at its February meeting. They did not go inside the meeting which was being held at the ECWCD’s mobile offices on East Construction Lane. They did not identify themselves but passed out a note that read in part: “We the citizens of Lehigh Acres are protesting the actions of East County Water Control Board Commissioners Neal Horrom, Nate Stout, Desmond Barrett and John Boardman who are planning to borrow $8 million to build an office building, which will result in a raise in our taxes which we can not afford … enough is enough, it must stop.” There was no mention of the other member of the board, Mike Welch, in their handout.
