Leoda M. James
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5 at the First Baptist Church, 1102 Leeland Heights Blvd. in Lehigh Acres for Leoda Mae (Kirk) James, 89, of Lehigh Acres, who died on March 1, 2010.
Born April 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Bice and Odie (Belt) Kirk in Salem, Ky.
She married Marvin James in 1956 in Paducah, Ky., and was employed as a seamstress in Long Island, N.Y. Upon retirement, they moved to Lehigh Acres.
She became an active member and volunteer of the First Baptist Church in Lehigh Acres where she devoted her time for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Marvin, five brothers and one sister.
James is survived by her sisters, Juanita Hansen of Salem, Ky., and Pauline O’Neal of Raleigh, N.C., and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family offered thanks the workers at Hospice and to
Valerie and David, the loving caretakers during her last year.
A funeral service with family and friends present will be held at Boyd’s Funeral Home in Salem, Ky., on Saturday, March 6, 2010 followed by interment in Salem Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in her honor to First Baptist Church or Hope Hospice.
