Student charged with making a bomb threat

By Staff | Mar 4, 2010

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a cell phone that was no longer in service Thursday at around 6:30 a.m. Investigators said a male caller said, “I put six bombs at South Fort Myers High School.” Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school, located at 14020 Plantation Road, Fort Myers, and were able to conduct a safety search of the school before busses arrived. There was no disruption to the school day for students, authorities said.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division was able to determine the location from where the call was made. This placed the caller in the area of Andover Street, Fort Myers. Deputies responded to the area and learned there were two students who attend South Fort Myers High School living on Andover Street. One of these students was identified as Mackenson Gue, 17.

An investigation into the bomb threat revealed Mackenson Gue had in fact placed the call and that he had acted alone, investigators said. The phone was recovered in the same area from where the call was made.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Mackenson Gue was charged with making the bomb threat. He was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC).
