Two nabbed in theft at outside bar at Haney’s Cafe
The Lee County Sheriff’s office arrested two suspects and charged them with burglary Wednesday afternoon. The open bar area of Haney’s Caf on Business Way was burglarized in the overnight hours on Tuesday March 02, 2010, according to Capt. Ed Tamayo, Bravo District commander.
The suspects are accused of stealing approximately $500 in beer from the outside beer cooler where they pried open the latch on the beer cooler. Sgt. Karlsen and Det. Lalor responded and after looking at the scene detectives suspected that transients might have been involved, Tamayo said.
The detectives walked across the street and searched the transient camp located off Beth Stacey Blvd. at which time they found two suspects sitting next to their camping tents drinking the stolen beer.
Next to the two suspects detectives located several six packs still in the cardboard boxes as well as a duffle bag full of unopened beer bottles. Sufficient evidence was obtained for arrest, Tamyo said. William Czahor, 36, and Heath Niemi, 29, were arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft.
