Makenzie Vance with RHS team

Makenzie Vance, better known as “Z” to her teammates and coach, signed with Webber International University on Friday, March 12.

“It’s sad to think that I will no longer be known as a Riverdale Raider, and that I have to leave behind my teammates and such a terrific coach, but I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my life, and I’m honored to be able to call myself a Webber Warrior,” she said.

Vance ended her season with 134 saves and 19 goals scored against her while playing as Riverdale High School’s goal keeper.

“The experiences I’ve had while being a Raider is something I will always cherish,” she said.

According to Coach Paula Sizemore, Vance has been the backbone of the Riverdale Raiders girls soccer team for the past 3 years, and she will bring so much talent and spirit to her new team at Webber.

“They are lucky to have her and I see nothing but great things for “Z” in the future. She will be greatly missed at Riverdale,” Sizemore said.

Tom Roszell, athletic director, said Vance is the 10th athlete from Riverdale to sign so far this year.
