Buckingham teenager charged in stabbing incident

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office today said that on Monday, March 15, at 9:21 p.m. officials received a 911 call of a stabbing incident at 2630 Purslane Drive in the Buckingham area of Fort Myers.

Deputies arrived on scene and discovered that Jason Campagna, 29, had received a stab would to his abdomen. Campagna had been involved in a verbal altercation with some juveniles in the neighborhood. The verbal altercation turned physical and Campagna was stabbed, said Sgt. Stephanie Eller.

Campagna was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery and is in serious condition today.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation detectives said 15-year-old Dustin Garrett McGee, was accused of stabbing Campagna during the altercation, Eller said.

McGee was taken into custory and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony.
