By Staff | Mar 18, 2010

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office today said that on March 16, at 3112 23rd Street West, Lehigh Acres, it was reported that someone tried to steal an air conditioner condenser by ramming it.

Detective Chris Stoddard was assigned to the investigation, according to Capt. Ed Tamayo, commander of the Bravo District in Lehigh. Through the investigation, Travis S. Foss became identified as the suspect in this investigation, Tamayo said.

Stoddard obtained sufficient evidence against Foss. During the course of the preliminary investigation, Foss tried to report the vehicle stolen that he used to do the damage. With witness information and sufficient evidence, there was enough probable cause to charge Foss with grand theft, Tamayo said.

It was discovered that Foss made 28 trips to a local metal recycler in Fort Myers to sell his stolen metal. Based on the totality of evidence, Travis S. Foss, with a date of birth of 11-01-89 was placed under arrest and charged with grand theft and making a false police report. Tamayo said additonal charges are pending.
