Mack introduces legistation to kill health care reform bill

By Staff | Mar 24, 2010

Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) introduced legislation in the House of Representatives this morning that would repeal the health care bill that was signed into law yesterday. Mack’s bill is titled “the Revoke Excessive Policies that Encroach on American Liberties (REPEAL) Act.”

“For months, the American people expressed vehement opposition to the Democrats’ government takeover of health care. Yet the Democratic Leadership in Congress pushed full steam ahead with their big government ideas. The only thing bipartisan about this legislation was the opposition to it.

“The American people have spoken loud and clear, and that’s why I introduced this legislation today to repeal the health care reform plan. Once we repeal this flawed law, we must enact policies that keep taxes low, spending in check, and our freedoms in place, such as health savings accounts, association health plans, substantial medical malpractice reform, and tax incentives.

“The American people deserve the right to make their own health care choices. They don’t want higher taxes that will limit job growth and discourage saving and investing. They don’t want massive spending that will be passed on to their children and grandchildren. And they don’t want unconstitutional mandates dictating that we must purchase insurance and what form it must take.

“I’m very encouraged that at least 13 states, led by Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, have filed lawsuits against the federal government. We have to fight this law on several fronts. Those in Congress who oppose the legislation must do all that we can to stop the Administration’s frightening move to bigger and more intrusive government. I will continue fighting against this serious intrusion in our health care choices and our private lives.”
